Operation Write Home Blog Hop!

Hey there…welcome to my humble stop on the bloghop! For those of you arriving from Brenda’s blog “Rose Blossom Legacies,” welcome and I hope you took some time to look around — she has beautiful ideas for both cardmaking and scrapbooking!  If you’re stumbling onto the hop right now, you might want to start at  http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org to see all the great blogs!

I am so thrilled to do my little part for such an amazing organization — Operation Write Home’s mission is to support our nation’s armed forces by sending blank greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.   I always make more cards than I can use personally and I think this is a fantastic cause to send cards to.  I love to check out the website and the blog (www.operationwritehome.org) – please take the time to check it out — the soldiers that the cards go to are so grateful and it definitely inspires me to jump into action to do whatever I can for these men and women serving our country!

And, if you ARE inspired, please remember that the deadline for Mother’s Day cards to arrive at OWH is April 1 (which is a great reminder for me to put the ones I have made in the mail on Monday).  You can find where to ship the cards — it can be as few as one — on the website.

This card is a springy card that could be used for a friend, for Mother’s Day — it uses Stampin’ Up stamps and paper and the flowers on the front are attached with pop-dots for a 3-D effect…I think the sentiment is especially fitting because of the service men and women we are thinking about today.

On to the really good stuff…If you’d like to be entered to receive a SPECIAL SPRING SURPRISE RAK from me, please leave a comment below. (If you are NOT a blogger, please provide your email address like this: name at server dot com and then I can contact you if you win! If you’re a blogger I can click on your name and leave you the news on your blog!)

Enough about me!  After you leave your comment, hop on over to Louise’s Trinity Paper Arts blog! She does quilling — which is a beautiful paper craft that I have not seen very often!  GO LOUISE!  Click here to keep hopping — http://trinitypaperarts.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-make-2-cards-in-less-than-3.html!

  1. Hi Amy! Happy Blog-hop! Your card is really pretty. When I clicked it, the zoom came up blank for me. Not sure if that was on my end? I was just up early and hunting for early birds on the hop. Have fun!

  2. I love the purple, to me it says spring. It makes me think of crocus popping out. You can find me at janicecarldesigns at gmail dot com. Thanks

  3. Amy,

I really like the card that you have posted to your blog! The background paper is gorgeous! Did you stamp those words onto the page, or was the paper already textured with words and leaves?

  4. What a beautiful serene card! Love all the layered stamping and the popped up flowers–and the sentiment is perfect!

  5. I love, love, love your background stamping! It’s one of my favorite things to do and I haven’t for a long time. Your card today is just gorgeous, I love the background stamping as you already know and the colors you chose are nice together, cutting out the flowers to pop them gives great depth too. Happy Saturday!

  6. Amy, your card is so pleasing and easy on the eye and it has lots of dimension, which is always good! I would like to try to create it for some OWH cards. OK with you? Blessings from the person next on the hop! Louise

  7. What a beautiful card! I also appreciate your comments about OWH. I’ve been sending cards to them for a few months now and I agree that they are a wonderful organization!

  8. Love the card but I really LOVE the monkeys. That is so cute to make for your parents and you. You need to think of a really cute sentiment and do some kids cards for OWH with that little guy.

“I’m bananas for you”, “monkey see, monkey do, monkey misses you” My dh isn’t home but he is the best sentiment ‘think-r-uper’ there is.

  9. I love using “text” on my cards and I just love the way you have it over another print in this card. Beautiful result!

  10. Beautiful card! I love the colors! Enjoyed your blog.. will come back again to visit. Thanks for participating for such a great cause!

  11. Oh I just love this card! The color of course is my favorite! I love the look of layering the stamps!

  12. Love your card!!! The colors look really springy and I love the word paper that you used.! Thanks for supporting OWH!!!

  13. Love the card! I have most of those stamp sets. My club ladies will see a variation on this soon. I esp. like the flowers popped up w/ dimensionals.

  14. Very beautiful card! I love anything in purple anyway and the script background really adds to the card! TFS.

  15. The 3D flowers are perfect to finish your beautiful card. The shades of purple are lovely. Thanks for your support of OWH

  16. Great color and the pop dotted flowers look awesome. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and with the troops.

  17. I love your card & the fact that you also do like I do & make them so they can be used for more than one reason. When my daughter was in Iraq, she sent me a Mother’s Day card for Christmas since that’s all they had. After that, I try to make them non-specific. Your son is so lucky to have a mom like you! Great scrappin’! Thanks for offering blog candy, too!

  18. Such great talents on these OWH Bloghops, and you are no exception! Great job. Thx for your work for OWH. Hugs, Loni (Stop #55)

  19. Your card is beautiful!! I love the colors and the script background!!! Wonderful work!

As a military spouse and someone new to OWH, I thank you for taking part in this awesome blog hop and in OWH!

  20. Another purple card… I love it!!! I agree with you that the sentiment is very apt. It is such fun to see share with others around the country who are all joined by this passion to create and give.

  21. LOVE this card!! Such a pretty colour combo, and I love, love, love the text background!! I’ve just bought some big text stamps and this is exactly what I want to do with them! TFS!!

  22. Your card is gorgeous…. I love your 3d flowers!!!

I’m very excited to learn about OWH… and I can’t wait to get started making cards to send in (I also think my youngest son will LOVE helping me do this…. he is obsessed with ‘real’ army men, lol!!! Thank you so much for all you do!

    Thanks for Sharing
