Cards for Heroes Blog Hop (and RAK!!)

**POST UPDATE:  We have a winner!  Random.org chose #31, which happens to be Deborah, who along with her daughter Gigi, left this message:

I like your card. I hope you make more. Thank you for letting us see your card. Love, Gigi Nolan (age 7) [as typed by her Mommy, Deborah]
Thanks for leaving the message ladies — let me know your address and I will get your treats out to you!

Hi there!  I am glad you are here, as I am so excited to be participating in the Cards for Heroes Blog Hop.  If you have landed here in the middle of the hop, I hope you will go to the start of the hop at  http://cardsforheroes.org/  ( you don’t want to miss ONE of the great blogs that are participating.)  We were asked to make a card using red, white, and blue to celebrate the Memorial Day weekend and Cards for Heroes.  I just bought this adorable Sizzix die (angel #2) and thought that it would be a nice addition to this card.

Cards for Heroes

You can’t really see it, but I also stamped the word “peace” in red on the red cardstock for some added texture.

Cards for Heroes’ mission is to support our nation’s armed forces by sending blank greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.  My experience with CFH has been really great.  For my birthday last year, I asked my friends to bring some cards to my “party” instead of gifts to send.  Of course, they were great and brought A LOT (one friend even had her class make cards for the effort), so I shipped a big box in time for Christmas.  I have also sent Mother’s Day cards for their effort.  As I always have more cards than I can use personally, I think this is an amazing cause to send cards to.  I took some time today to check out the website and the blog (http://cardsforheroes.org/homefront-blog/)  — please take the time to check it out — the soldiers that the cards go to are so thankful and it is definitely inspirational!!  I hope that you will be inspired to send cards for our troops, too.

Now for the RAK — I have some clear stamps and a Fiskars “Chicky Baby” punch that I would love to give one of you!   Leave a comment on this post and I will have random.org pick a winner on Monday night.

The next blogger on the hop is Anita in the Houston area.  She is a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and has some amazing cards on her blog — including some Father’s Day cards and a Graduation gift card holder idea that I very well may borrow.   So please hop over to Anita’s blog http://secretagentstamper.blogspot.com/2009/05/cards-for-heroes-blog-hop.html/!

And, of course, THANK YOU to all of the service men and women who are serving our country!

Enjoy,

A
